ResMed reaches out in Sri Lanka

ResMed Ltd recently donated a Stellar™ 100 Ventilator Machine

ResMed Ltd recently donated a Stellar 100 Ventilator Machine to a child in Sri Lanka who is suffering from a rare neurological disorder called Brown-Vialetto Van Laere syndrome. This is a neurodegenerative motor neuron disorder that mainly affects children and causes a host of cranial nerve deficits, including loss of ability to speak, hear, swallow and even breathe.

The girl totally depends on a ventilator to breath and has been in hospital for the past 3 years. Her family could not afford to buy a ventilator so that they could take the child home from the hospital ICU and approached ResMed for their support.

The donation allows the parents to keep her at home. It gives so much comfort to the parents to be with their daughter.

The girl’s father has expressed his deep gratitude to ResMed for this compassionate donation and thanked both ResMed’s APAC President, Karen Borg and General Manager for India, Aparajito Mukherjee.
